BITCOIN

I mentioned Coinkite's OpenDime bitcoin sticks a couple of weeks ago, well they recently released a video showing how it works. Pretty awesome, you should check it out.

In other bitcoin news, Valve's just partnered with BitPay to enable bitcoin payments in Steam. Users can now add bitcoin funds directly to their SteamWallets.

VIRTUAL REALITY

Bigscreen announced their virtual reality desktop sharing app recently, allowing people to screenshare multiple desktops with each other in virtual reality. It has 3D voice chat, and looks like it'll be awesome for virtual collaboration or watching movies or games with friends. You can sign up for the beta now.

Dodocase also announced their smartvr case, a nifty little upgrade to Google Cardboard-type mobile VR, that folds down and fits in your pocket. It's not cheap at $40, but I don't think it'd be long until cheaper alternatives are available.

ROBOTS

The NASA Ames Research Center released a video about their tensegrity-based robots, that is robots that are both rigid and elastic. The idea is so that these robots could be dropped onto planets and survive in tact. Really interesting.

SINGLE BOARD COMPUTING

Udoo announced the kickstarter for what they call the most powerful maker board ever. The Udoo X86 combines the tinkering options of an arduino, with a tiny, full power PC board. It has an Intel CPU that clocks up to 2.56GHz, up to 8GB of RAM, 8GB on board storage and more. Check out the kickstarter for more info.

DRONES

The Univeristy of Florida recently held a drone race, where participants controlled the flying machines entirely with their brains. The brain control interfaces seem to be in their infancy, but imagine what this will be like in the future.

VIDEOS

Blackhat just added a bunch of new videos to their Youtube channel, all from the recent BlackHat Asia conference.

The next video is a new documentary on Koreas internet addicts. If anything, this is an interesting view on Korea, one of the most connected places on earth, lightning fast speeds and 24/7 gaming cafes.

THIS WEEK ON NODE

This week I released a video on what would likely happen if the calls for banning or crippling encryption were to be enacted.

I also set up a Patreon page for NODE too, so check that out if you're interested in helping support the channel.

More howto guides should be coming soon. As always, thanks for watching.
