Welcome to Cyber Dump number 23, your weekly look at what's happening in this insane age of technology we live in. As always, all source links mentioned are below.
Cetus3D recently launched their super minimalist, high resolution 3D printer on Kickstarter. The very cool thing is that early birds can pick this up for only $199. Would love to try one out.
CNH Industrial unveiled their autonomous tractor concept, basically freeing up farmers, and removing more future jobs.
senseFly also showed off their eBee SQ farming drone which can autonomously survey and analyse fields using it's multispectral camera technology.
And then we have the NanoFarm from Replantable, a little indoor farm that allows you to easily and automatically grow food in your own home.
Some MIT students have been testing out giving VR headsets to seniors living in a Brookdale care home, and it's blowing their minds. Pretty cool.
In other news, Dreamdesk VR, launched their multi monitor app, allowing you to place multiple virtual screens around you in 360 degrees.
Oh yeah, and Oculus have warned against using the Note 7 on the Gear VR headset due to it's tendency to sometimes blow up.
Youtube user Jopie Wise uploaded a cool video the other day showing off his custom built drone, with a frame made out of an orange box. Surprisingly it flies pretty well, and it can even carry emergency bread and pastries.
HoloFriends created a floor is lava game using the Microsoft Hololens. I'm definitely excited to see more applications that can transform the physical world into other things.
PiBakery released a great little app that allows you to easily setup Raspbian on your Raspberry Pi, automating things like network settings, installing programs, running recurrent scripts and more.
Microsoft Research released literally hundreds of technology videos to their Youtube channel. Tonnes of 1 hours plus technical videos on all sorts of topics.
I couldn't find any other new videos, so here's another Mr Robot panel, this time chaired by Jeff Moss, creator of DefCon.
THIS WEEK ON NODE
This week I added a bunch more items to the NODE shop, including this tee, which spells out the famous George Orwell quote in morse code: "In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act".
Also, we set up a weekly newsletter that will keep you in the loop of the new articles and videos on the site. Sign up link is in the description
I made a video about the controversial subject of political censorship by various technology companies. Check out the comments section and join the debate.
I also made another video about YaCy, the P2P alernate to google's search engine.
