Just a quick update. I've set up N-O-D-E.live so we can have watch parties for everyone in the community. We can watch movies, documentaries and whatever else we find interesting on the net.
If you've not done a watch party before, the idea is pretty simple. I will display a date and time that we watch, say, a documentary, then everyone enters the chat 15 mins before, we queue up the video, and when we hit the right time, everyone presses play in sync, and we watch and discuss what's happening together. Then once the event is over, the chat closes again, and we wait until the next event.
The kind of videos I had in mind range from documentaries on technologies, inventors, internet and hacker culture, to cyberpunk movies, and whatever else we can find on Youtube, Vimeo etc.
I'm thinking of doing these at least weekly, maybe on weekends, but haven't made my mind up yet. I know a lot of people are stuck at home right now, so might have some in the week too. We'll have to see how it goes.
Anyways, check out the site https://n-o-d-e.live
You don't need an account to enter the chat, but if you'd like to secure a username so others can't use it, let me know and I can set up an account. Also I welcome any doc/movie links too (pref YT for now). Email me: firstname.lastname@example.org
